My Honest Opinion on Booktok’s Sad Recommendation
Featuring the books I bought and read after Booktok’s exposure
This might be an unpopular opinion, but feeling like your soul was torn from your body after completing a book feels amazing. I believe it is an author’s goal for a reader to say, “Your book punched me in the face, and it was awesome.”
That said, I buy heartwrenching books as soon as it’s recommended. If someone tells me I’ll be utterly miserable and drowning in my tears by the end of the book, I’ll either have that story finished by the next day, or it’ll be shipping to my home.
So far, I have received plenty of sad recommendations from Booktok. Have I cried reading any of them? Yes. But have they all been so heartbreaking that I would sell my soul to read them again? No, of course not.
Here is my honest opinion of some of the sad, popular reads I bought because of the Tiktok book community.
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller: 5/5 stars
